5G-ACIA — 5G Alliance for Connected Industry and Automation

To make 5G a success for industrial applications, 5G-ACIA [1] brings together widely varying 5G stakeholders to include organizations of the Operational Technology (OT) (include industrial automation enterprises, machine builders, end users), Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) (includes manufacturers, network infrastructure providers or mobile network operators), academic institutions and more.

Together, members discuss and evaluate technical, regulatory, and business aspects with respect to 5G for the industrial domain through working groups addressing these issues. Following working groups are part of 5G-ACIA [2]:

  • Working Group 1: Use Cases and Requirements, discusses potential use cases and requirements and defines a common body of terminology.
  • Working Group 2: Spectrum and Operating Models, identifies and articulate specific spectrum needs of industrial 5G networks and explores new operator models, for example for operating private or neutral host 5G networks within a plant or factory.
  • Working Group 3
